Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Dr. Lawrence Gilliard came to Florida to complete his undergraduate degree and to receive his Doctorate
in Medicine from the University of Miami. After receiving his Doctorate, Dr. Gilliard joined the United States Navy to fulfill his
internship and residency. He later became Director of Pulmonary Medicine and Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bethesda, Maryland, and Orlando, Florida. After 7 years of serving in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Gilliard received
his Honorable Discharge, which led to the opening of his pulmonary practice, allowing him to continue serving the community.
has been practicing Internal Medicine and specializing in Pulmonary Disease for over 30 years in both Orange and Seminole Counties
of Central Florida.
In 2005, Dr. Gilliard was given the opportunity to serve the Volusia County population, allowing him to open the
doors to his office, the Center for Pulmonary Medicine, in DeLand, Florida.
Dr. Gilliard has received certifications from American
College of Chest Physicians, the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Disease, the National Board of Medical Examiners,
and the State of Florida as Expert Medical Advisor. Dr. Gilliard was also given the “Award of Integrity” from Florida Hospital and
has been named "Physician of the Quarter."
Dr. Gilliard continues to play an active part in the DeLand community as he continues to
care for patients and serves as Medical Director of the Good Samaritan Clinic, a free medical clinic available for indigent patient
